![]() From my distant memories of what I remember of The Foxhill Court when it was posted here, Matt and Nicky seemed pretty different to me. ![]() I felt for him and the hints you left us about his story.Ģ. ![]() Why are you so good at making likeable characters? Seth shouldn't be likeable, but he really is. (Actually, such a minor detail but I loved that Allison's middle name is Jamaica) I really did like Seth, though. But there's no one I was like "arghghgh why couldn't it have been _" instead, because I liked all of the Foxes. I'm going to miss that cranky, prickly little plum. I decided I liked Seth as soon as he unabashedly accused Neil of having an attitude problem. Yay! Anyway, I feel like I could write essays about this book, but I'll try to keep it short.ġ. I'm so excited for more of the world to see how talented you are! Do you get to see more stats as the author? I stumbled across The Foxhole Court on the "most downloads" list and from there obviously periodically refreshed the page to see it climb up the list. I'm not much for quotes usually, but I can't wait to download it on my kindle to highlight my favorite lines. Well, I've read it twice since you posted it. I just didn't want to set off any of my cousins. ♥Īlso also, it probably isn't worth noting, but Nora is not my real name, though it's relatively close. Also, if you notice any formatting errors in your download, please let me know and I will attempt to fix them. Please turn off the Adult filter on Smashwords if you are having trouble locating the story. Hopefully all of you enjoy the latest and last changes to the trilogy. Thank you Z and KM and Katze and Miika and JC for going over this last draft, especially those of you who worked it into the crazy holiday season. Thank you for the suggestions, the edits, the rereads and patience. Thank you for believing in it, for tolerating the endless variations, for remembering it and asking me if the Foxes are still around here somewhere. ![]() Thank you for taking a chance on it, whether you found it at the beginning or toward the end of its days. This is the only way to quiet the voice in my head that's brought me back to Neil for so many years. So I'm starting the slow process of letting it go. Over the years it's become a different sort of monster: something too personal, something too desperate maybe, but something I don't regret for an instant. I grieved for weeks when I renamed all the characters with Western names. Back in those days I thought the hardest thing I would do was rewrite the Foxes as an American team. In the beginning Neil was a transfer student to a Japanese high school and all I wanted was to write a "manga" about gay athletes. It started as a comic back in high school, shoddy pictures on lined pages. Above all else, though, it is a labor of (psychotic, obsessive) love. You could call The Foxhole Court a lot of things: ridiculous and unrealistic to name a few, self-indulgent if we're all being more honest. ![]()
